Surfer Middle Part Tutorial

step 1

Get a Good Haircut

This style works best with some length on the top and back. Keep sideburns trimmed or faded around the temples. Here's a haircut tutorial to show your barber.

Already have naturally curly or wavy hair? Perfect, this tutorial is for you too!

STEP 2

Start with Clean Hair

Use our gentle daily shampoo and conditioner, The Merman Hair Boosting Shampoo and Conditioner, to prep your hair for volume and curl. Tidy up your look with a shave and prep your skin with Everything Sea Spray.

STEP 3

Dry Your Hair

Choose your drying technique: air dry, towel dry, or use a diffused blow dry. Apply a little Everything Sea Spray before blow-drying for extra volume and fluff. Don’t overdo it, your hair does not need to be bone-dry. Keeping it slightly damp will help with the next steps.

STEP 4

Apply Curling Sea Clay

Take a dime-sized scoop of Curling Sea Clay. Work it into a very thin paste on your fingers. Scrunch it into your hair, running your fingers through to distribute evenly. Focus on the sides of your middle part to create those classic “surfer curtains.” Keep scrunching to activate texture and fluff.

STEP 5

Add Everything Sea Spray

Spray 3–5 pumps of Everything Sea Spray all over your hair and continue scrunching. The spray works with the clay to define and accentuate your curls naturally, giving them lift, volume, and that effortless beach look.
